Many tracks were far away from the form they had on the OST where they were combined for maximum flow and effect. He was right, when I listened to it the first time I knew I had some problems to solve. After a week of working on it he uploaded his final result and informed me that he thought it was too long and lacked focus. His fans will disagree but we didn't care, sorry. We both knew that the OST worked extremely well and that, in general, music by Hans Zimmer flows much better if it's combined to form suites and if it isn't complete. Instead of giving a rough overview, I will try to describe the amount of work as detailed as possible.įink used the sessions and combined all the small pieces into bigger suites in order to improve the flow. If I would have known, I wouldn't have worked on it. The amount of work was something I did not expect. It's also the first time I found myself still working on it long after I was initially finished and the project was finalized. And the result never made me completely happy. It's also true that I worked a lot on this expanded Edition of the score. I have always been bewitched by the grace, grandeur and beauty of the score for 'Da Vinci Code' as it was represented on the OST. The reasons for doing this are pretty similar to the one stated by Fink above. He really worked much harder than I did on this one. He made it sound better, of course, and some of his edits are really clever. the usual stuff :) So I did it, and now I can listen to it with great pleasure, thanks of course to the skills of SonicAdventure The Great. Things needed to be combined, shortened a little here and there so you don't fall asleep every time you listen to it. but after a while I realized I was never listening to it. The soundtrack has been and remains an excellent resume and when the complete score leaked few years ago I immediately grabbed it, of course. Between 'Hannibal' and 'The Ring', there is something about 'The Da Vinci Code' sounding like classical music I always liked.
